I’m Joelle, a web designer in Calgary. I build websites and online stores for small businesses, write the email that keeps people coming back, and get you found on Google and in AI answers.

Joelle is a freelance web designer based in Calgary, Alberta. She works directly with small business owners rather than through an agency, handling design, build, copy, launch and search setup herself. Clients own their domain, hosting and logins.
The short version
I work with small businesses, mostly in Calgary — clinics, trades, shops, studios. The kind of business where the owner is also the person answering the phone, and where a website either brings in work or quietly doesn’t.
There’s no team behind me and no account manager in the middle. You talk to the person doing the work, which means nothing gets lost on the way and nothing takes three days to answer. It also means I take on a small number of projects at a time.
The part I care most about is the handover. You get the domain in your name, every login, and a walkthrough of how to change things yourself. Plenty of agencies rent people their own website. I’d rather build something and hand you the keys.

How I work
Four things I don’t bend on.

A fixed price, before anything starts
One number, in writing. It doesn’t move partway through, and there’s no hourly meter running when you email me a question.

You own everything
Domain, hosting, logins, files. If you ever want to work with someone else, you take it all with you and nothing breaks.

Built to be found
Every site ships with the search basics done properly. Being invisible on Google is the most expensive thing a small business site can be.

No jargon
I’ll tell you what something does and what it costs. If I can’t explain why you need it, you probably don’t.

Are you an agency?
No. It’s me. You talk to the person doing the work from the first call through to handover, which is why I only take a few projects at a time.
Where are you based?
Calgary, Alberta. Most clients are in Calgary and the surrounding towns, and I meet local clients in person if they’d like. The work itself runs fine over video anywhere in Canada.
What happens after the site launches?
You get the logins and a walkthrough, and the site is yours to run. If you’d rather not touch it, I do updates as they come up — no retainer required.
